Fairfax County collects trash directly from only about 10% of homes — the ones in county Solid Waste Collection Areas. Those homes get a limited number of free special pickups each year, up to 2 cubic yards, left at the curb. Most county residents have a private trash hauler, often through their HOA, with its own bulk rules. If you don't qualify, can't wait, or the items are inside the house, we pick them up from wherever they are. Read our full Fairfax County bulk trash guide →
Usable furniture goes to donation where it's accepted, metal and appliances get recycled, and the rest goes to the Fairfax County I-66 Transfer Station — the county's own facility. Nothing is dumped.

"I highly recommend DMV Go Junk. The owner, Matt, was a genuinely courteous and professional gentleman. He arrived when he said he would and quickly removed a mattress and box spring for me. It's nice to do business with someone who is dependable and treats customers with respect."

We're based in Herndon. Most of the western half of the county is 10–25 minutes away, and the southeast — Lorton, Kingstowne, Mount Vernon — is about 40–50 minutes. Call or text by 12 PM and we can usually come the same day.
If you're one of the roughly 10% of homes with county trash service and your items fit the 2-cubic-yard curbside limit, the county pickup is a good free option. If you have a private hauler, more than that limit, items inside the house, or you can't wait, a junk removal company is faster — we carry everything out from wherever it is.
We donate usable furniture where it's accepted, recycle metal and appliances, and take the rest to the Fairfax County I-66 Transfer Station. We never dump items illegally.
Yes. We clear townhouse and condo communities across the county and work with HOAs and property managers on move-outs, tenant turnovers, and common-area cleanups — including HOA communities like McNair Farms in Herndon, where items can't sit at the curb.
